The Red Sea Film Festival's fifth edition concluded with a star-studded ceremony in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Akio Fujimoto's 'Lost Land' emerged as the big winner. The film, the first Rohingya-language feature, tells the story of two siblings fleeing persecution in Myanmar to join an uncle in Malaysia. The Golden Yusr for Best Feature Film was presented to Fujimoto by Sean Baker, who praised the film's empathetic portrayal of displaced children's struggles. The festival also recognized 'All That's Left of You' by Cherien Dabis, a poignant exploration of a Palestinian family's displacement, earning the Silver Yusr and a $30,000 prize. The ceremony celebrated diverse talents, including Juliette Binoche's directorial debut with 'IN-I: IN MOTION', earning the Al Sharq Award for Best Documentary. Seo Su-Bin won Best Actress for 'The World of Love', George Khabbaz for Best Actor in 'Yunan', and Cyril Aris for Best Screenplay in 'A Sad and Beautiful World'. 'Hijra' by Shahad Ameen received the Yusr Jury Prize and the Film AlUla Best Saudi Film Award. The festival's shorts competition highlighted 'Coyotes' by Said Zagha, winning the Golden Yusr and a $25,000 prize, while 'Empty Lands' by Karim Eldon Elalfy received the Silver Yusr and a $12,500 prize. 'Nighttime Sounds' directed by Zhang Zhongchen was honored with the Yusr for Cinematic Achievement.
