Imagine a style moment where glamour meets geometry, and a red-carpet statement becomes a talking point for what’s hot right now. That’s Vivica A. Fox’s ABFF Honors look, where a striking geometric white pedicure peeked from under crystal-drenched René Caovilla sandals. The slinky, warm-gold platform sandals featured dense crystal pavé from toe to platform, with an open toe, a single mid-width band across the front, and a platform base entirely encrusted in crystals. A pristine white pedicure, accented by a triangular motif, appeared just behind the strap, adding a subtle architectural wink to the overall look.
Fox styled the sandals with a deep burgundy velvet Balmain gown. The dress showcased a sequined collar and a coordinating trim around a front keyhole, balancing opulence with a hint of edge. She completed the ensemble with a tonal, textured clutch that shimmered, stacked metal cuffs and bracelets, a cocktail ring, and teardrop earrings that picked up the warm gold tones of the crystal sandals.
This isn’t a one-off moment for René Caovilla. Fox’s glittering platforms echo a recent streak of the brand’s appearances on top stages and in street style. Previously, she wore Caovilla’s flower-adorned sandals in New York City last November. Earlier this year, at Super Bowl LVII, Karol G stepped into Bad Bunny’s halftime set wearing embellished Caovilla sandals as part of a beige-and-white “casita” segment. In December, Thandiwe Newton chose metallic gold Cleo snake-wrap sandals from the same label for the Anaconda premiere in Los Angeles, with a coiled ankle strap nodding to the film’s title creature.
René Caovilla—the Venetian house—has maintained a strong runway and event presence, including serving as the exclusive shoe partner for the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with a bespoke lineup of crystal-studded sandals, boots, and mules featuring its signature stardust sole.
Fox’s appearance at ABFF Honors places that crystal-forward craftsmanship on a carpet celebrating Black cinema. ABFF Honors brought together actors, directors, and producers for an intimate dinner recognizing outstanding work in film and television. This year’s honorees included Angela Bassett, Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Hudson, Damson Idris, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, along with the creative team behind “Sinners.” Fox attended with collaborators from “Is God Is,” the forthcoming Aleshea Harris–directed film produced by Orion Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios.
